Suminat is a medication for headaches that constricts blood vessels around the brain. It decreases the levels of substances in the body that may provoke headache pain, nausea, and sensitivity to light and sound, among other migraine symptoms. Suminat is specifically used to address migraine headaches. It is effective only after a headache has started and will not prevent future headaches or decrease their frequency. This medication should not be used for common tension headaches, headaches that cause movement loss on one side of the body, or any headaches that feel different from your typical migraines. Use this medicine only if your doctor has confirmed your condition as migraine headaches.

You should refrain from using Suminat if you are allergic to sumatriptan, have a history of heart disease, or suffer from coronary heart disease, angina, circulation issues, insufficient blood supply to the heart, uncontrolled high blood pressure, severe liver disease, ischemic bowel disease, a past heart attack or stroke, or if your headache appears different from your usual migraines.

Avoid using Suminat if you have: coronary heart disease, angina (chest pain), circulation problems, inadequate blood flow to the heart; a history of heart disease, heart attack, or stroke, including "mini-stroke"; severe or uncontrolled high blood pressure; severe liver disease; ischemic bowel disease; or a headache that feels different from your regular migraine headaches.

Administer Suminat at the onset of headache symptoms, or after an attack has started. Take one Suminat tablet whole with a full glass of water. Do not cut the tablet.

If your headache does not fully subside, or if it alleviates and then returns, take a second tablet two hours after the first. Do not exceed 200 mg of Suminat within 24 hours. If your symptoms do not improve, consult your doctor before taking additional tablets.

Cease using Suminat and contact your doctor if you experience any serious side effects, such as: pain or tightness in your jaw, neck, or throat; chest pain or feeling of heaviness, pain radiating to the arm or shoulder, nausea, sweating, general malaise; sudden numbness or weakness, particularly on one side of the body; abrupt severe headache, confusion, issues with vision, speech, or coordination; sudden and intense stomach pain with bloody diarrhea; seizures (convulsions); numbness or tingling along with a pale or blue appearance in your fingers or toes.
